SS26 - The Twist

This collection is about an event.
Something that happens to all of us—when something doesn’t work out.
A twist in life.

Purple, pins, and the number 8—these are fragments from my memory.

Martha Graham wore a purple costume in Lamentation. That was my first encounter with dance I truely liked.
Bizarre, beautiful movements, wrapped in deep purple jersey.
It fascinated me: the repetition, the pain, the elegance, the strangeness.
She walked her own path.
I didn’t understand it then. I do now.
I still admire her courage.

The number 8 is my lucky number.
It’s the day I was born. The number on the two houses I grew up in. The number pinned to my leotard at every dance exam.
8 is a knot. A bow. A loop that holds something together.
A number with a little bit of quiet magic.
